  • Explore applications of Emotional Intelligence for coaching clients

About Jim Vaive:
In 30 years of building and running a successful business, Jim Vaive learned that leadership is all about people – and that the same interpersonal skills which let people lead in business are essential to leading in personal life. This insight led Jim to pursue Emotional Intelligence, a science he’s brought to dozens of businesses and social ventures to support the creation of value for all stakeholders. As a “serial entrepreneur,” Jim’s built and sold multiple companies that have done well financially – and done good in their communities. In conjunction with his work in prison ministry, Jim hired and coached ex-offenders to new beginnings. Blending his business experience with background as a Spiritual Director, a stint in the military, and an emotional intelligence Advanced Practitioner, Jim brings a unique perspective. These “lenses” help him help others to see possibility in people and situations.  This allows him to support leaders and changemakers to a greater depth and understanding of themselves and their clients.  In business venues, Jim speaks the language of CEOs and uses his personal experience to connect with the decision-makers that can escort emotional intelligence through their doors.  He is a consummate salesman and communicates the value of emotional intelligence to business audiences in ways that only a former successful business owner can. Beyond the business arena, Jim has led multiple projects with nonprofits, education, and prison ministries. In one recent project, Jim worked with individual leaders of a large nonprofit to achieve breakthrough personal and professional growth, blending practical skills to move ahead with the insight and nurture that comes from working at the intersection of emotional and spiritual intelligences. Jim completed extensive training in Spiritual Direction with the Dominican Sisters and the Spiritual Formation Academy of the United Methodist Church. Jim also holds the Associate Certified Coach (ACC) designation from the International Coach Federation as well as both Emotional Intelligence (EQ, Six Seconds) and Spiritual Intelligence (SQ21, Deep Change, Inc.) coaching certifications.
