40/40 ICF Columbus Initiative

What is ICF Columbus 40/40?

The 40/40 Initiative takes place as part of International Coaching Week 2017. The goal of the initiative is for chapter affiliated professional coaches to contribute 40 pro-bono coaching hours in a 40-hour work week. In 2016, the 40/40 Initiative offered complimentary coaching services to the YWCA of Central Ohio. This year, the initiative will once again focus on the local nonprofit community.

As experienced coaches, our chapter members have seen coaching transform lives and businesses,”
said Barb Girson, ICF Columbus Charter Immediate Past Chapter President. “We are honored to once again serve
organizations dedicated to serving the community through our 40/40 Initiative
.”

When is ICF Columbus 40/40 taking place?

The week of May 15-21, 2017, the International Coach Federation, an organization dedicated to advancing the “art, science, and practice of professional coaching,” is holding its 18th annual International Coaching Week. This yearly event is designed to educate communities all over the world about the value of professional coaching for individuals and organizations.

What do participants get from the ICF Columbus 40/40?

Coaching is a professional partnership between a qualified coach and an individual or team that supports the achievement of specific results. Coaching accelerates a client’s progress by providing greater focus and awareness, leading to more effective choices, accountability, and increased follow-through. According to the 2016 ICF Global's Study conducted by Price Waterhouse, the coaching profession has experienced 19% growth since 2011 and as coaching becomes a mainstream method for developing leaders, handling change initiatives and more, the opportunity for businesses to work with coaches is gaining appeal.

“The coaching profession is evolving through the emergence of research, development, and the direction of ICF Global.
While we have the privilege of witnessing how coaching benefits individuals personally and professionally, many remain
uncertain about the coaching process and the direct benefits they can receive
,” stated Karen Tiller, the chapter’s
40/40 Initiative Chair
. “International Coaching Week, and more directly the 40/40 Initiative, gives us the opportunity
to educate the community about coaching through personal experiences with the coaching process.”
